Fork in the Road Diner is a small diner in Spencer's Mill, located at the western edge of the town, on the road intersection branching to Fairfield and Mount Tanner. It appears in State of Decay, State of Decay 2: Heartland and State of Decay 2: Homecoming.

Unlike its Swine and Bovine competitor, Fork in the Road Diner is a small independant business, with only one restaurant throughout the game. It's owner, sole waitress and part-time cook is Alice Miller.

The Diner is a recognizable landmark of Spencer's mill, its giant fork-shaped sign can be seen all the way from the southern entrance of the town.

State of Decay[]

In State of Decay and State of Decay: Breakdown, the Fork in the Road Diner is a location that can be looted, claimed as an outpost or become home to an enclave. It is a fine location for an outpost due to its central location in a point of high traffic for hordes.

In the main storyline, Alan Gunderson will become infected. If the player delays making the decision to expel or kill him, he will go to the Diner to commit suicide, as to avoid contaminating others.

State of Decay 2: Heartland[]

Plague Wall in the Fork in the Road Diner

In the Heartland campaign, the Diner is infected by an undestructible Plague Wall that blocks the entrance. As a result, the Fork in the Road Diner can be neither looted nor claimed as an outpost. A thick red mist, identical to the one found in Plague Heart territory surrounds the building.

Trivia[]

  • The Diner appears to have been closed for renovation when the outbreak occurred. The building is classed as an Abandoned Site, and has a stockpile of construction materials inside.
  • The Diner can be an enclave's base, even as Alan Gunderson goes there to commit suicide, he will still ask for privacy from the player.
