Notes:

ThompsonM1A1VWM
  • One of the few non-pistols that fire the .45 caliber round, which helps a survivor who is equipped with it not have to compete for more popular ammunition such as the 9mm, 5.56mm, or 7.62mm rounds.
  • Since the M1A1 can be suppressed and set to semi-auto fire, this weapon might replace the need for a pistol and one stack of ammo, saving one inventory slot (if weight is not an issue)
  • Used since the Prohibition era, the "Tommy Gun" (formally SMG, .45 cal, M1928) was military and police issue. The difference between this and the later M1A1 model is the lack of a foregrip, 50 round clockwork drum magazine, and muzzle break at the end of the barrel. The M1A1 was modified to have the cocking lever on the side of the gun, ( the original had it on the top,) a regular forestock, and a straight 30-round box magazine. This newer, cheaper incarnation saw service into the Vietnam War, and was feared on the battlefield for the hellstorm of fire it could put out. However, it was replaced by the cheaper M3 "Grease Gun" and later the Heckler&Koch MP5.
