"Seems like we're getting a reputation. Some neighboring survivors asked if they could come get some firearms training from us. There's 3 cases of ammo in it for us. - Lily"

The Watchtower is a facility that can be built to allow a survivor to be on watch and protect the Home Sites in State of Decay. Further upgrade allows for increased XP from Shooting and Ammo income by training neighboring survivors.

Notes[]

  • Some Watchtowers are built into Home Sites (such as the treehouse at the Savini Residence), where others must be built using materials and influence. Additionally, Watchtowers at some Home Sites (like Snyder Trucking Warehouse and McReady Farmhouse) suffer from a bug that prevents survivors from manning it.
    • This bug does not seem to persist and fixes itself automatically. Alternatively, logging out to the main menu and logging back in the game will almost always fix the bug. Traveling far away from the base to stop the game from rendering the community survivors and returning back to the base to load them back in also seems to reset the AI behaviors.
  • There is a chance for a survivor on guard duty with a shotgun to be incapable of finishing their weapon reload animation, and thus rendering them useless against oncoming zombie attacks.
  • Shooting Platforms can be seen outside the County Court House, but the NPCs in the enclave located there, The Law, does not use them as such, and instead behaves like any other generic enclaves. At The Grange, the player will receive a mission to help the NPCs build a Watchtower to help improve the defensibility of their home. But, similarly to The Law, they will not be seen using it.
